[...] The cash allowance is used to budget cash for myself, maintaining the balance between using a debit card and using cash. To summarize… What I’ve worked out is a cash allowance. Each week I allow myself $60 cash as part of my living expense. The rest stays in the account, coming out on the debit card. This allows me to consistently have cash if the need arrises, but still have money to make online purchases. [...]

There's an even better way to do this. I had trouble convincing myself that $100 was *really* zero, since it said right there in Quicken that I still had $100. (Of course, I'd probably forgotten to enter some transactions, so the actual account balance was less than $100.)

I wrote myself a check for $100. I entered it in Quicken. Then I tore it up. Now my checkbook still balances (there's just this one check that never clears), and when Quicken tells me I'm at zero, I stop spending.

[...] This fits in perfectly with the stackbacks budget system. Go ahead, blow your living expenses on fancy dinners, spend your big ticket savings on a BMW, just don’t spend more than that. Enjoy this post? Bookmark on del.icio.us or subscribe. [...]

I just opened my accounts, and was going to follow the advice of JonaricAric - open two checking accounts at the same bank. As it turns out at my bank you can direct deposit and bill pay from savings. So my plan is to use the savings as the "inbox" and for automated payments. Transfer my variable expense money to the cheking.

Anything else that I actually save gets transfered to another institution with a higher intrest yield (and it takes a few days to get at it so I don't break my piggy bank).

I'm not sure how you have your website hosting package - but if you have multiple websites and domains you might want to consider reseller hosting - one price, and you can host all your own (and other domains). Mine for example is about $8.00 monthly, and I can set up unlimited websites.
