Getting Things Done (GTD) and the StackBacks Budget System
This budget system utilizes a lot of the same principles as David Allen’s Getting Things Done. The core principle of the personal budget is to set things up in a trusted system, and get them out of your head. This is the planned expenses checking account. The planned expenses account would be compared to an automated tickler file, or maybe even a calendar. The expenses happen at certain times no matter what.
The living expenses checking account is sort of like a next actions folder, perhaps even an “errands” type folder. The money in there is yours to spend as you wish. If it doesn’t get spent, sweet. If you spend it all, no worries, the other money is scheduled safely away in another place.

Ok- I just linked to you from lifehacker. Your idea is so damn simple. And thats why I get it. No complicated msn money, yup, tried that, tried quicken, tried a billion other ideas. They all failed because I got myself all caught up in these complicated categories and hated sitting at the end of the month thinking:
“Does my backup hardrive expense go under household or etc? Well its kinda in my house so…”
GAK!
I’m setting this up today.
